It came down to penalty minutes as the final tie breaker. With both the Moncton Flyers and St. John's Maple Leafs practically posting identical tournament records, fewest penalty minutes was the eventual tie breaker putting the NB representative in the championship game against the Cape Breton West Islanders. The strong showing by the Leafs on the ice also lead to a strong showing at the awards banquet with 3 Leafs picking up individual awards. Jay Henley picked up the Esso Scholarship Award; Kyle McGrath earned Tournament MVP and Andrew Rose snagged the Top Goaltender Award. Congratulations to the Leafs hockey club on a great season and best of luck to the players who will move on to Junior "A" and Major Junior next season.
